The scar left in cultural memory from WW2, still existing in the subconscious of millions of people 75 years later, revealed through our misinterpretation of an innocent child’s simple desire to play when seen in the context of the Occupation of the Channel Islands, and the forced proximity of the Occupied to their Occupiers which that Occupation entailed – and how the continued existence of that scar speaks to us of the horrific nature of that war, and of war in general.
