The Bee

(A poem from childhood)

A mile from land, a mile at sea, with gently heaving sails,
A yacht sailed on with water trickling underneath the hull,
The water’s glare’s so strong it’s stronger than the sun at sea,
And in that lonely moment, suddenly, was it a gull?
Some wondering thing, a fragment from another world, a bee!
A mile from land, a mile at sea, sky streaming white mares’ tails,
A solemn, melancholy bee that followed unknown trails.

In 2017, I set myself a goal that 'I would love to become a writer, to use my creativity, and be able to move and inspire people'. I expect this to be a long journey, but it is one I am excited to have started on. I hope that by being able to share my writing as I develop, people will be able to enjoy it, and I will be able to learn from constructive feedback whether positive or critical. I am grateful for the study I have been able to do with the Open University in the Arts and Languages, and that has given me a good foundation to set out on this course. I am a dad, a husband, and pass my 9 to 5 as an IT Solutions Specialist.
